How do I play?

Now you can make a guess at the answer by starting to type in the white response field. As you type, possible answers will appear - click one to choose it as your answer. You'll either be correct - well done! - or incorrect in which case you'll get the next hint and another try.

Why are some of the hints a bit weird?

All the hints are written by AI, which generally does a great job but occasionally goes off on a tangent or includes strange information. This is part of the fun! Because everyone gets the same hints every day, we're all in this together.

Why can't I type any answer that I like?

When you start typing the answer, you'll see a list of all the possible answers in the game, ever. If your answer isn't in that list, it's not the right answer.

What does streak and running total mean?

Your streak is the number of days in a row that you've played Five. If you've played every day for a week it'll be 7, but if you miss a day it'll reset to zero. Running total is the sum of all your daily scores during your current streak, which will also reset to zero if you miss a day! Running totals reset at the start of every month, and the person with the highest running total at the end of each month gets a little trophy that's displayed next to their name for the whole of the following month.
